How it works

There is no setup to get through

Open the app

It starts on the lock screen. There is nothing to configure first.

Tap to lock

The screen switches into play mode and the rest of the phone becomes unreachable.

Hand it over

Let them tap, swipe and explore. Nothing they do can leave the app.

Long press to unlock

Hold the corner for a few seconds and you're back to your phone, exactly where you left it.

It doesn't want to know anything about you

Toddler Lock has no account, no profile and no analytics following you around. It doesn't need your contacts, your location or your photos, and it works with the network switched off entirely.

Questions

Before you download

How do I unlock it?
Press and hold in the corner of the screen for a few seconds. It's deliberately awkward for small hands, which is the whole point.
Can my child get to my other apps?
No. While the lock is on, the home and back buttons, the recents view and the notification shade are all blocked, so there is no way out of the app without the unlock gesture.
What about incoming calls?
Calls and notifications won't interrupt play or hand control back to your child. Unlock the screen to deal with anything waiting for you.
Which permissions does it need?
Only the ones Android requires to stay on top of the screen and hold the lock. It never asks for contacts, location, photos or the microphone.
Does it cost anything?
The app is free to download from Google Play.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. iOS restricts this kind of screen lock much more tightly, so an iPhone version would work quite differently. It's on the list.
